COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the educational delivery of our academic programs, administrative functions and our services. However, an incredible effort was made by Acsenda faculty and staff for a most thorough and comprehensive response which has allowed our students to continue with their academic programs with minimum disruption.

The Senior Leadership Team continues to meet regularly to discuss our planning and preparation for the upcoming terms and a scenario planning approach is being relied on for planning due to the uncertainty of the situation at this point, and the need to be able to adjust our plans accordingly.

With that being said, we’re excited to announce that Acsenda will offer some classes on campus in Term 4!

In making this decision we consider various factors, including:

  • The well being and safety of our faculty, staff and students
  • Provincial health guidelines
  • Immigration processing projections
  • Travel restrictions for International Students
  • Park Place Building guidelines

Summary

  • Acsenda will offer a limited number of classes on campus in Term 4, with priority to first year studies, math and accounting, English and senior-level courses that are deemed best to deliver in-person and on-campus.
  • The number of classes on campus at any one time will be limited to 2 or 3, with no more than approximately 30 students on campus at one time.
  • While students will be expected to attend those classes that are scheduled on campus, Acsenda will still respect that some students may be unable to due to health concerns or if they are still unable able to come to Canada. Therefore, Acsenda will make accommodations and allow for course delivery online through video conferencing, so that all students can participate.
  • Classes will be delivered in a hybrid model and only some students will come to campus at one time. This means that students will be scheduled on a rotation basis. Again, those not able to come to campus will participate online as they do now.
  • There will be restricted hours, controls on movement on campus and physical distancing guidelines.

For students who are not currently in Canada:

  • We are closely monitoring immigration policy with respect to the issuance of study permits and the ability for students to travel to campus.
  • We realize that many students with valid visas or study permits have not been able to come to Canada because classes were only online.
  • We will be issuing travel letters now for students which stipulate that classes will be offered on-campus which students are expected to attend.
  • When the borders open, students will be required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
  • Students will be required to prepare a comprehensive arrival and quarantine plan to immigration and will need to first submit the plan to Acsenda before travel letters will be issued.
  • Acsenda will be providing further information to assist students with their arrival plan and to support students on their arrival and transition to Canada.

Please note: that this is only a plan and there are many scenarios which may unfold. It is therefore important that we be flexible in our planning and approaches moving forward.

I want to thank you for your cooperation and understanding at this time. We are all very excited to see a flourishing and safe campus environment soon.

Sincerely,
Neil Mort
