Celebrating a 3rd‑Place Win at HRC West 2026

This year’s HRC West 2026 competition brought together 16 high‑performing teams from business and HR programs across Alberta and British Columbia. Known as Western Canada’s premier HR case competition, the event challenges students to analyze complex HR problems, develop strategic recommendations, and present them to industry professionals.

The project emphasized teamwork and collaboration. After weeks of preparation, training, and strategic planning, students applied their combined skills effectively to develop a strong, practical HR solution in only three hours.

Claudia Roca shared that their team’s greatest strength was building on each other’s ideas. They used strong communication skills and remained consistently polite, which contributed to a positive outcome. In addition to this, each member brought unique abilities to the group, creating a well‑balanced team where everyone’s strengths complemented one another. As Alyssa Berona shared, “We applied what we learned, and in the end, we were all in sync.”

As a cohesive and capable team, HRmony Solutions addressed a complex case involving downsizing and organizational competitiveness. Their thoughtful understanding of the HR strategies and practices required to address such workplace challenges was evident throughout their presentation. The students delivered a thoughtful and professional case presentation before a panel of industry and academic judges.

Don Dela Pena shared: ”Representing my school was indeed an immense honor, lifting the spirit of ‘International thinking. Individual Focus’.” In addition, Oriel Lupango said: “Experiences like this remind me why I’m passionate about Human Resources and people’s strategy, solving complex workforce challenges and turning ideas into actionable solutions.

Our team proudly secured third place, demonstrating remarkable teamwork, critical thinking, and professionalism. This recognition is a testament to the program’s level of preparation, coaching, and determination put forward by our students.
