Job Summary
The In-Room Dining (IRD) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, staffing, service delivery, and operational readiness for In-Room Dining services and Paradox Breakfast operations at Paradox Vancouver.
This role ensures IRD and breakfast operations are executed efficiently, professionally, and in strict compliance with hotel service standards, departmental SOPs, labor guidelines, operational procedures, and guest expectations. The IRD Supervisor provides hands-on floor leadership, supports staffing coordination, manages labor productivity, and maintains strong communication with Culinary, Front Office, Banquets, and Operations teams to deliver an elevated luxury lifestyle guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
In-Room Dining Operations & Service Execution
- Supervise day-to-day In-Room Dining operations, including order delivery, service standards, operational readiness, and guest engagement.
- Ensure IRD service delivery aligns with departmental SOPs, Forbes-level service expectations, and hotel brand standards.
- Monitor service timing, order accuracy, tray presentation, and guest interactions to ensure elevated guest experiences.
- Coordinate closely with Culinary, Front Office, Stewarding, and Operations teams to support smooth service flow and operational efficiency.
- Support service recovery and escalation handling for guest concerns, service delays, or operational issues as required.
- Ensure IRD operational areas, pantries, carts, and service stations remain organized, stocked, and operationally ready.
Paradox Breakfast Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Paradox Breakfast dine-in services, including operational setup, staffing readiness, guest experience, and service flow.
- Ensure breakfast operations comply with established SOPs, service standards, cleanliness expectations, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate with Culinary, Stewarding, and Restaurant teams to ensure smooth breakfast execution and operational readiness.
- Monitor guest satisfaction, seating flow, buffet/service presentation, and breakfast operational efficiency.
- Support breakfast operational adjustments, staffing deployment, and service recovery where required.
Staffing, Labor Management & Team Leadership
- Support scheduling, staffing coordination, shift assignments, break management, and operational deployment of IRD and breakfast team members.
- Monitor labor productivity and staffing levels to support departmental labor cost objectives and operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and operational guidance to IRD team members and breakfast service staff.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate operational updates, service expectations, VIP arrivals, and event-related information.
- Foster a positive, professional, and guest-focused team environment.
SOP Compliance, Administration & Operational Support
- Ensure compliance with departmental SOPs, service standards, safety procedures, and operational requirements across IRD and breakfast operations.
- Support operational audits, service inspections, and quality assurance reviews where applicable.
- Assist with operational reporting, documentation, inventory control, breakage monitoring, and service-related tracking processes.
- Support communication and operational coordination between IRD, Breakfast Operations, Culinary, Front Office, and Banquet teams.
Other Duties
Perform other duties, projects, or assignments related to the role as required to support the success of Food & Beverage Operations and guest service delivery.
Qualifications & Technical Experience
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of food & beverage or hotel operations experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience within IRD, restaurant, breakfast, or banquet operations preferred.
- Knowledge of luxury hotel service standards and operational procedures preferred.
- Food Safe Level 1 and Serving It Right certifications required.
