Director, Quality and Risk
With over 15 years of work experience in the higher education sector, Dr. Catherine Kang is a dedicated leader in quality and risk management at Acsenda School of Management. In her current role as Director, Quality and Risk, she oversees the development and implementation of quality assurance, institutional governance, risk mitigation, and compliance strategies for Acsenda’s academic programs and operations. She also leverages her skills in student success and partnership development to foster collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Prior to joining Acsenda, Dr. Kang held various positions in education management and leadership. She also has a strong background in biomedical research, having completed a PhD in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University and BC Cancer Research Centre, where she conducted and published multiple studies on human papillomavirus and its role in tonsillar cancer. More recently, she obtained a Certificate of Specialization in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School, further deepening her knowledge of management, strategy execution, and organizational leadership. Dr. Kang is driven by a mission to advance the quality and excellence of higher education and to contribute to students’ success and pursuit of meaningful careers through her work.
President
President Neil Mort has served in the British Columbia post-secondary educational community for over 30 years. He joined Acsenda School of Management in 2017. Neil has an extensive and diverse background in higher education administration with a particular emphasis on international education. He had a key role in establishing two new post-secondary institutions in British Columbia. His involvement and leadership also include serving as a member of the Board for BCCIE (BC Council for International Education), as a member of the Council for BCCAT (BC Council on Admissions and Transfer), and founding Chair of the Private Degree-Granting Institutions Association. Neil holds a Doctorate of Education from Western University, an MBA in Educational Administration from Royal Roads University; a Master of Arts in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction from Gonzaga University; and a BA in International Relations from the University of British Columbia. In his career, Neil has focused on student development and leadership, community development on campus and facilitating domestic and international transfer credit processes. Born and raised in the Vancouver area, Neil is active in community service projects, youth sports coaching and Rotary International. He has also travelled extensively throughout the world.
