Shaping Your Future Success with a Designated Learning Institution

Inside our Welcome and Orientation Day

Making connection from Day One

Starting a bachelor’s degree to further your academic journey can be both exciting and overwhelming. In our institution, we believe the first days on campus set the foundation for student success.

That is why our Welcome and Orientation Day plays a vital role in helping international and domestic students settle into academic life—feeling supported, engaged, and ready to thrive.

For more than two decades, we have proudly welcomed students from Asia, Europe, Latin America, and British Columbia’s local high school community. As a Designated Learning Institution, we offer two degree pathways: the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), with concentrations in Human Resources, Accounting, Financial Management, International Business, Marketing, Real Estate Management, Management Information Systems, and General Business, and the Bachelor of Hospitality Management (BHM).

Both programs prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in today’s global environment.

On September 24th, 2025, we hosted our Term 4 Welcome and Orientation Day. Our Student Experience Department, in partnership with Student Services, organized this orientation event to foster integration, belonging, and a strong sense of community for new students.

A Gateway to Academic and Professional Success

Traditionally our Welcome and Orientation Day takes place four times per year, reflecting our commitment to preparing students for academic success and professional life after graduation.

Canada ranks among the world’s leading destinations for higher education, combining academic excellence with cultural diversity and career opportunities. As a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) recognized by the Government of Canada, we ensure that students receive not only a high-quality education but also the support they need to thrive in a unique environment.

At Acsenda, we put this commitment into practice through since the first day of a new cohort. During the event, students meet program directors to learn more about the resources they can get to enrich their academic experience. While also discovering essential services such as Career Services and Housing that facilities their life’s in Vancouver.

As a result, they gain a clear understanding of the academic and student services available to guide them throughout their journey. Furthermore to inspire the student’s our Senior Leadership shared valuable insights.

As Dr. Sally-Ann Burnett, Senior Vice President of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship, advised: “When pursuing a career, what truly differentiates people is their network—the relationships they build and the way they engage. I encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities at Acsenda for building your broader network, alongside your academic studies.”

How new students find support, belonging, and learn about opportunities

In addition, Student Clubs and organizations presented opportunities for involvement beyond the classroom. By joining these groups, students begin building friendships, developing leadership skills, and creating a genuine sense of belonging.

In the end, this experience reflects our mission as a Designated Learning Institution in Vancouver: to nurture academic achievement while encouraging personal growth, leadership, and global citizenship.

Students often choose our school because we are not a one-size-fits-all institution. We give our students flexibility and choice in how they study. By specializing in teaching students from around the world, we take the time to understand their strengths and challenges, and we work closely with them to foster deeper critical thinking and knowledge.

We achieve this through a unique combination of small class sizes, the integration of modern technology, and direct access to instructors.

For this reason, during Welcome and Orientation Day, students received information and words of mentorship. They heard that support is always available, that success grows not only from academic recognition but also from the relationships and networks they build, and that soft skills such as communication and adaptability are just as vital as technical knowledge.

Most importantly, they are encouraged to join clubs, get involved, and challenge themselves—because true growth comes from engaging fully in both academic and community life.

Together, these messages reinforced that our school is more than a place of study; it is a community dedicated to student success inside and outside the classroom.

A Student-Centric Community that Feels Like Home

The event was concluded with a campus tour led by our dedicated student workers. This experience gave new learners the chance to explore our facilities, become familiar with key spaces on campus, and begin forming friendships with their peers. More than a tour, it served as an introduction to the supportive environment that defines our school as one of the most outstanding Designated Learning Institution in Vancouver.

From the very first day, students are motivated to see our business school not only as a place to study but also as a community where they can feel at home. As they walked through classrooms, study spaces, and student hubs, they began to picture themselves growing academically, socially, and professionally.

By the end of Welcome and Orientation Day, students left with confidence, meaningful connections, and the reassurance that they had joined more than a school—they had become part of the Acsenda family.

This sense of belonging is at the heart of our mission: to provide international and local students with an education that empowers them to thrive anywhere in the world.
