S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has evolved into a multicultural, multi-service agency assisting people at all stages of their Canadian experience. The Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program (ISIP) helps immigrants, and their families to learn about Canada’s systems and services. We offer opportunities for immigrants to develop English language skills, learn about Canada’s labour market, network, and develop professional and social networks, and settle into their local B.C. communities. ISIP services are for eligible immigrants, refugees and their families and are free of charge. Our services are offered in many languages.

We are recruiting volunteers to support settlement workshops at our Richmond Service Centre.

Work Location:

In person at our Richmond Service Centre or other Richmond service locations. Details to be confirmed by the Community Connections Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting clients
  • Set-up & take-down
  • Assisting attendees with sign-in
  • Materials distribution
  • Evaluation forms distribution & collection

Time Commitment and Schedule:

  • Workshop dates and times vary. Volunteers can sign up for the workshops that meet their availability
  • Approximately 3 hours per shift
  • Shifts usually occur Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm. Sometimes workshops are offered on Saturdays as well

Qualifications Required:

  • Intermediate Level of English or above
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset
  • 19 years or older
  • Must be willing to conduct a criminal record check
  • Customer service experience (preferred)

  • Friendly, reliable, encouraging and welcoming
  • Patient, non-judgmental and active listener
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, multicultural and multilingual workshop setting
  • Team player and able to support the Settlement Practitioner with the assigned tasks

Orientation and Training Provided:

  • General orientation to S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
  • Specific orientation to the volunteer position

Supervision:

  • This position will be supervised by a S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Immigrant Settlement and Integration, Settlement Practitioner with volunteer management support from the Community Connections Coordinator as needed
