Future Leaders in Hospitality Industry

Shaping the Future of Hospitality Industry Solutions

International students in Canada are gaining more than just a degree; they’re shaping the future of industries by applying their learning to real-world scenarios. As part of their academic journey at Acsenda School of Management, our talented students in the BHMT 402 – Creating Value in the Hospitality Economy course have developed innovative conceptual frameworks to tackle operational challenges in the hospitality industry.

This course, part of the curriculum aimed at enhancing students’ skills in value creation within the hospitality sector, encourages students to apply theories and models to solve problems faced by leading businesses. This year, students have worked on projects inspired by Michael Porter’s Value Chain Model, one of the most influential business strategies, to create new frameworks that can drive success and efficiency in the hospitality industry.

Real-World Impact and Industry Partnerships

Our students’ efforts have caught the attention of some of the biggest names in hospitality, including Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Airport, Pinnacle Hotel-North Vancouver, Delta Hotel, Paradox Hotel, Flair Airlines, and the Vancouver Convention Centre. Through collaborations with these industry leaders, students gain invaluable exposure and Canadian job experience, applying their classroom knowledge to real-world operational challenges.

This unique opportunity allows students to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional experience. By solving actual challenges faced by these renowned organizations, they gain skills that will make them highly competitive in the global job market, particularly in the thriving hospitality sector in Canada.

Celebrating Student Achievements: Academic Poster Presentation

In recognition of their hard work, these students presented their frameworks through an Academic Poster Presentation. This event highlighted the innovative ideas and solutions they developed to enhance business operations and value creation. The winning group, representing the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Airport and the Vancouver Convention Centre, impressed a panel of experts with their conceptual framework.

Special guests, including Dhananjay (DJ) Kshirsagar, Director of Hospitality Programs at Western Community College, Dr. Michael Lever, Assistant Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Mr. Kelvin Monteiro, Founder of Monteiro Group, joined the event to provide insights and encourage the students as they prepare to embark on their professional careers.

Empowering Future Leaders in Hospitality

The event not only allowed students to showcase their talents but also emphasized the importance of global learning experiences and professional development. As Canada continues to attract international students seeking quality education, it also opens doors for them to gain valuable work experience that will shape their careers and help them succeed in the competitive global workforce.

This experience at Acsenda School of Management exemplifies how international students can make a lasting impact in their fields.
