Express Entry category-based draws, plans for more in-Canada draws to reduce labour shortages

Canada is refining its Express Entry system for 2025 to better address long-term labour shortages and support economic growth. Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced a new education category, alongside continued emphasis on candidates with Canadian work experience (Canadian Experience Class).

Priority category-based invitations will target:

  • French-speaking candidates to support Francophone immigration outside Quebec.
  • Professionals in health care, trades, and education, such as doctors, nurses, plumbers, and teachers.

These changes aim to attract skilled workers who can integrate successfully and contribute to Canada’s workforce. Learn more here.
