These reflections will be displayed in the student lounge for the community to read and engage with. Treats will be handed out to all students. Acsenda Clubs Impact Award
The Acsenda Club Impact Awards celebrate student leadership, initiative, and community impact each winter and summer term. Student Services organizes the Club Impact Awards to bring students, club leaders, and the Acsenda community together. The ceremony recognizes the work that strengthens student life beyond the classroom. Student clubs shape the Acsenda experience in meaningful and lasting ways. They create chances for connection, leadership growth, collaboration, and engagement. They also build a sense of belonging and shared purpose. The Club Impact Awards honour this work and highlight the dedication of student leaders and members. During the ceremony, club leaders share short reflections about their mission and achievements. They also highlight their club’s impact during the term. These spotlights help students discover the diverse initiatives happening across campus. They also showcase the creativity, resilience, and teamwork demonstrated by their peers. The event concludes with the presentation of the Club Impact Award. This award goes to one club that demonstrates outstanding leadership, engagement, and positive influence on the Acsenda community. The winning club receives the Impact Award trophy, a $300 prize, and formal recognition. Yet the ceremony also reminds everyone that impact is collective. Every club contributes to the vibrancy of student life. All club members receive certificates of appreciation to recognize their involvement and contributions. After the presentations, guests gather for a casual celebration with refreshments. This moment encourages connection, reflection, and community building. Enjoy the charm of traditional German holiday — and the best part, entry is free! We’ll meet inside the Waterfront Station next to the Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar restaurant and enjoy the holiday spirit together! We will also be hosting a Christmas Photo Challenge—take a creative holiday-themed photo at the market for a chance to be featured and a win prize. It’s a great way to make memories and connect with new friends. Lets stroll through beautifully decorated stalls, enjoy authentic German treats, and experience the warmth of a European-style Christmas market. Gather your classmates and celebrate the season! This delightful holiday experience goes beyond shopping. As you weave your way through the glowing aisles, you will discover over 100 wooden stalls offering unique artisanal gifts and Europe cuisine. National Aboriginal Peoples Day Pow Wow at Britannia
On June 21, 2025, all members of the Acsenda community are encouraged to attend the National Aboriginal Peoples Day Pow Wow at Britannia High School’s Running Track. This self-directed event is open to the public and invites everyone to experience the richness of Indigenous culture through traditional drumming, singing, dancing, food, and artisan vendors. The celebration begins with the Grand Entry at 1:00 PM and concludes with the Retiring of the Flags at 9:00 PM. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy a community BBQ serving 500 people, explore cultural displays, and witness performances from Indigenous leaders and artists. A Guided Visit to Indigenous Gardens at UBC
In recognition of Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day, Acsenda School of Management invites students, faculty, and staff to participate in a guided visit to the xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Indigenous Health Research and Education Garden at UBC Farm. Led by Charlene Leon, Pomponia Martinez, and Anna Tur, this special event offers participants an opportunity to explore Indigenous perspectives on health, healing, food sovereignty, and traditional plant knowledge. The xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden – whose name in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ means “the place where we grow” – has served as a living classroom since 2007, guided by the “4Rs” of Indigenous research: respect, relevance, reciprocity, and responsibility. Participants will learn about the 60+ medicinal plants cultivated in the garden, the cultural significance of traditional knowledge-sharing, and the garden’s community programs such as CRUW (Culturally Relevant Urban Wellness), which brings together urban Indigenous and immigrant youth. This visit is a unique chance to connect with Indigenous ways of knowing and deepen our understanding of wellness, land, and learning. Pride Month, sometimes specified as LGBTQ Pride Month, is a month-long observance dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ pride, commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer culture and community. At Acsenda, we are proud to host an inclusive event honouring Pride Month and the LGBTQ2S+ community — a celebration of diversity, acceptance, and student unity. At Acsenda, we’re proud to be a community that embraces diversity and strives to be a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for all students.
