Acsenda Proud Sponsor of the First Lapu-Lapu Event

Last Saturday, Vancouver witnessed a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture at the inaugural Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party, proudly sponsored by Acsenda School of Management together with Flash Forest, Air Canada, Marriot, Omni Television, Global BC, TD Bank, University Canada West, BC Nurses Union, Amenida and others.

The event took place across the back parking lots along Fraser Street, with festivities kicking off at 11 a.m. with an exciting basketball tournament at John Oliver Secondary School. From there, the party extended south to 47th Avenue, with the streets buzzing with energy and excitement.

Attendees were treated to a full day of music, dance performances, merchandise, and an array of delicious Filipino food stalls.

Pampanga Cuisine, a local Filipino fast-food chain, served up a special selection of cultural cuisine, including kikiam, fish balls, barbecue pork, chicken, and Filipino-style hotdogs.

The creative director of the block party, Joe Tuliao, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Anything that a Filipino can do, we’re all doing that.”

The event paid homage to Lapu-Lapu, the Filipino hero who led the resistance against Spanish colonizers in the 1500s. Mable Elmore, the MLA for Vancouver-Kensington, was delighted to show support for the block party, which took place in her riding.

Acsenda School of Management was honored to be part of this historic event, with around 20 student volunteers and 10 staff members from our ASM community participating. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for being part of this memorable intercultural celebration.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate and support the rich culture and heritage of the Filipino community in Vancouver in the future.
